Softball Unveils 2022 Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. -Ā Head softball coach Mike Heard has announced the 2022 spring slate. It features four non-conference tournaments, the Connie Claussen Classic, and five weekends of home action.

"We are excited about our 2022 schedule,"Ā said Heard. "We feel our non-conference games will both challenge us and allow us to figure some things out before we get into our conference season.Ā It will be fun to watch this team grow and develop throughout the season."

The season opens at the UNI Dome Tournament Feb. 11-13. The Mavericks will play four opponents over five games. First on the schedule for Omaha is state rival Nebraska on Feb. 11. Omaha will also play Iowa State, Drake, and UNI over the weekend.

Following the opening weekend, the Mavericks head to Incarnate Word for a four-game tournament Feb. 18-20. Omaha is set to play the host twice as well as Boise State and UTSA.

On Feb. 25-27, the Mavericks continue non-conference action at Central Arkansas. While in the tournament, Omaha will play Central Arkansas, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and St. Louis over five games.

Road tournament play wraps up at the Florida Spring Games March 4-6. Omaha's weekend will be spent playing Central Michigan, Georgetown, Southern Mississippi, Radford, and Georgia Southern.

The Mavericks host Wichita State on March 16 for their home opener at Connie Claussen Field. It will be a single game beginning at 4 p.m. The following weekend Omaha will host its second Connie Claussen Classic March 18-20. Opponents will be announced at a later date.

Omaha will then open Summit League play March 26-27 hosting defending league champions South Dakota State. All league games will be a doubleheaderĀ to be played every SaturdayĀ beginning at noon with the second game to follow 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first. Sunday will be a single game.

North Dakota State comes to town the next week on April 2-3.

The Mavericks take the next 13 games on the road. They will play at North Dakota, St. Thomas, Creighton, and South Dakota through the end of April. Omaha heads across town to take on the Bluejays April 19 at 5 p.m.

The home finale is set for April 30-May 1 when Omaha hosts Kansas City. They will then close the regular season at Western Illinois on May 6-7.

The League Tournament will be hosted May 11-14 by South Dakota State.
