Mavericks Take First League Trip to Oral Roberts

The Basics
Omaha heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma for its lone game of the week vs. Oral Roberts. The Mavericks were scheduled to play Kansas City to open the week, but the game was ruled a no contest due to COVID-19 issues within the UMKC program. Tipoff between the Mavericks and Golden Eagles is set for 7 p.m. on Jan. 1.
Omaha is coming off its first league win vs. Western Illinois last week. It snapped an 11-game skid for the Mavericks and ended a six-game win streak for the Leathernecks. ORU is coming off a dominating win vs. Denver and can be just the second team in the league to reach three wins Saturday.

The Golden Eagles are 8-6 overall and 2-1 in league play heading into Saturday's meeting. They split the opening weekend with an 82-73 win vs. South Dakota and an 82-76 loss to South Dakota State. ORU rebounded earlier this week with a 17-point win vs. Denver.
Oral Roberts is third in the league averaging 80.9 points per game. The Golden Eagles and Summit League are led by Max Abmas who pours in 21.3 points per game. He's notched double-figures in all but one game this season, including a season-high 38 points vs. Tulsa. Abmas recorded another 30-point performance vs. South Dakota with 32 points with five three-pointers.
