OMAHA, Neb. - The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced today that Omaha freshman Brock Bremer has been named the NCHC Rookie of the Week.
Bremer led the Omaha hockey team in scoring with five points during last weekend's sweep of visiting Colorado College. Bremer did all his scoring in Friday's 7-1 win. He tied a school record with five points, scoring a hat trick and adding two assists while finishing +3 with a game-high seven shots on goal. It was the first career hat trick for Bremer who became the second Maverick to register a five-point game this season.Â
In Saturday's finale, a 3-2 win, Bremer finished even with three shots. Thanks to his big night, the native of Forest Lake, Minn. moved up to sixth in NCHC freshman scoring with five goals and six assists for 11 points.
Bremer is the third Maverick to earn a weekly award this season and the second to nab the Rookie of the Week honor. Freshman Matt Miller picked up the first back in December.
The No. 9/10 Mavericks are on the road this weekend, visiting No. 1/2 North Dakota on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19-20.
