SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Junior Chris Esposito has been named the Summit League Baseball's Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The Overland Park, Kan., native hit .529 with a triple, three homers, 11 RBI and five runs scored in a series split at Missouri last weekend.

"Chris had a fantastic weekend," said head coach Evan Porter. "It's great to see him be rewarded for his hard work, he certainly deserves it."

Esposito recorded a 1.176 slugging percentage, .556 on-base percentage and a 1.732 OPS.

In game one, Esposito went 2-for-3 with a team-high three RBI on a pair of RBI singles.

The junior had a career day in a doubleheader at Mizzou. Esposito went 3-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, seven RBI and a pair of runs scored. The two home runs and seven RBI are tied for the most by a Maverick in single game in the DI era.

Esposito had a solo homer in the third game of the series before going 3-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in the series finale.

The Mavericks are set to christen its new on-campus ballpark this weekend with a three-game series vs. Creighton. First pitch from Tal Anderson Field between the Mavericks and Bluejays is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 5.
