BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. – Sophomore Josh Peters led the Omaha men's golf team to eighth place after the first two rounds of the Gulf Coast Collegiate hosted by the University of New Orleans and Nicholls State.

The tournament is the first of the spring season for the Mavericks.

Omaha shot team scores of 303 and 312 over the first 36 holes at the Pine Course of the Diamond Head Country Club, giving them a total of 615. Southeastern Louisiana and Tennessee Martin are tied for first with matching scores of 589. Morehead State is third at 596.

Peters shot rounds of 75 and 74 to put him at 149, good for a tie for 11th in the 67-player field.

Jacob Zerby is second on the team and tied for 26th overall with a score of 153. He opened with a round of 75 and shot 78 in round two. He's two strokes ahead of teammate Josh Bartels who is tied for 32nd with a score of 155. He shot 75 and 80 over the first two rounds.

Mathew Halvorson shot 78-80 for a total of 158 to put him fourth on the team and 47th overall.

Noah Hartman finished the team scoring with a total of 159, a score that featured rounds of 79 and 80. He's tied for 48th.

The 12-team tournament resumes with the final round on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
