Bonar Named to Buster Posey Award Watch List

WICHITA, Kan. – Omaha catcher Brett Bonar was named to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Watch List, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced this week.
The Rose Hill, Kan., native has been named to the watch list for the second consecutive season. Bonar is batting .294 this season with two doubles, three RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Bonar has started all nine of Omaha's games behind the plate this season.
The Buster Posey Award honors the top Division I catcher in college baseball. Semifinalists will be announced on May 20 with finalists announced on June 7. The award presentation will be held in Wichita, Kan., with the date to be determined.
The Mavericks continue play at home this weekend vs. Kansas at Tal Anderson Field. The Mavericks and Jayhawks will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. and another doubleheader on Saturday at 10 a.m.
