SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Omaha women's golf team is tied with Valparaiso for fifth place after the first two rounds of the Missouri State Spring Invitational.
The Mavericks shot team scores of 339 and 345 for a total of 684 on a day when the wind and rain made scoring difficult. Host Missouri State leads with a total of 624. Creighton is second at 650, and Wichita State sits in third at 655.
Zora Gittens led the Mavericks on day one with scores of 84 and 81 for a total of 165. She's tied for 13th in the field of 39 golfers.
Mandi Granato, Jinna Boonbumroongsuk and Hannah Hunke are all tied for second on the team and 27th overall with scores of 173. Granato posted cards of 83 and 90. Boonbumroongsuk and Hunke had matching scores of 86 and 87 in rounds one and two.
Izzi Puk is tied for 35th after shooting back-to-back rounds of 93 to put her at 186. Brynn Sundquist wrapped up the scoring for the Mavericks with scores of 97 and 92 for a total of 189.
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday from the Highland Springs Country Club.
