
Mavericks Open Spring Season on the Gulf

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's golf team will kick off its spring season at the Gulf Coast Collegiate hosted by the University of New Orleans and Nicholls State on Monday and Tuesday, March 1-2.
The 12-team tournament begins with 36 holes on Monday and 18 more on Tuesday at the Diamond Head Country Club in Diamond Head, Miss. Play begins at 8 a.m. each day.
The Mavericks were able to play in just two tournaments during the fall including their own Maverick Invitational at Indian Creek in mid-October.
Josh Peters led the Mavericks in scoring during the fall with a stroke average of 75.7 percent. He finished seventh overall at the Maverick Invitational with a 54-hole score of 221.
Newcomers Mathew Halvorson and Noah Hartman were 2-3 in team scoring with stroke averages of 77.0 and 77.8 respectively. Halvorson led the Mavericks in their other event, shooting 229 to finish 12th overall at the Zach Johnson Invitational at Drake in September.
The Mavericks will play in five tournaments during the spring, including their own Stampede at the Creek on April 12-13, before the Summit League Championship on May 1-3 in Newton, Kan.
