OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha track & field team will visit Drake on Saturday, March 27, for the Blue Oval Invitational.

Competition begins at 1 p.m. from Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Mavericks are coming off the Mizzou Spring Opener at Missouri, their first meet of the outdoor season on March 19-20.

Among the highlights:

Lori Vedder led a group of four Mavericks in the javelin. She placed seventh with a throw of 116-07.
Lucy Turner finished 10th in the discus with a mark of 122-02. Vedder was 13th with a distance of 103-02, and Kinsey Scheffler was 14th at 102-11.
Scheffler led the way in the shot put with a throw of 34-10 ½, good for 11th. Turner was 13th at 34-02.
Roxy Denton finished ninth in the long jump with a wind-aided leap of 16-08. Taylor Ramaekers was 10th with a mark of 16-05, and Kylie Johnson took 11th with a jump of 16-03 ¾.
In the 1,500 meters, Joanna Topham led a group of seven Mavericks with a time of 4:53.43, good for 15th place. Maya Nachtigal took 18th in a time of 4:59.47. Emily Robles and Paige Blackford finished 26-27 in a time of 5:08.95 and 5:09.34, respectively. Danielle Howard was close behind, coming in 29th in a time of 5:11.45.
Topham also paced a group of six Mavericks in the 800 meters, coming in 14th in a time of 2:23.71.
Carrie Simonson finished fourth in the 200 meters with a wind-aided time of 25.64. She also finished eighth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.48.
Also in the 100 meters, Nina Cuevas finished 10th in a time of 12.69. She finished 13th in the 200 meters with a wind-aided time of 26.89.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Kylie Johnson finished fifth in a time of 15.48, and Denton was 13th at 20.40. Vanessa Gunderson took fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.17.
In the 400 meters, Scarlett Hill set a lifetime best with a time of 59.54 to finish eighth. Chloe Sabatka was 12th in a time of 1:05.80.
Sheridan Rodriguez finished third in the high jump with a leap of 5-05. Taylor Ramaekers was fourth at 5-03, and Kaitlin Hellbusch was fifth at the same height.
Kennedy Powell took fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 34-11.
