For the fifth time in the eight-year history of the NCHC, the Mavericks led or tied for the confernce lead in academic all-conference selections.
Mavericks Lead NCHC in Academic All-Conference Nods

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Omaha hockey team placed a conference-best 21 players, all of its eligible roster, on the 2020-21 NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced today.
The Mavericks were part of a group of 118 NCHC student-athletes honored for their achievement, the third-highest total in one season in the eight-year history of the conference. To be eligible, honorees must compile a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average or better while having completed at least one full academic year at their current institution.
Among the honorees, a record 67 student-athletes were named NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes for posting a 3.5 GPA or better. The Mavericks again paced the conference with 14 Distinguished Scholar-Athletes with nine boasting GPA's above 3.7 including three with a 3.9 or better.
While freshmen and first-year transfers, including graduate transfers, are not currently eligible for the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team or Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition (due to not having a full year at their current school), those freshmen and transfers that achieve a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year will be added to the Academic All-Conference Team over the summer. Similarly, any freshmen or transfers who compile a 3.5 GPA or better will be named an NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete.
The 2020-21 NCHC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award, chosen from senior Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, will be announced as part of several individual NCHC awards on Thursday, March 11. NCHC All-Conference and All-Rookie Teams will be revealed on Monday, March 8, with individual NCHC awards announced throughout the rest of the week (March 9-11).
