Pile Set for 2021 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha senior Matt Pile has been selected to participate in the 2021 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship, April 2-4 at The Pavilion in Indianapolis. Pile is one of four players selected for the Summit League/Ohio Valley team.
The tournament pits 16 four-man teams representing every Division I basketball conference against each other in a three-day, 3-on-3 tournament. Teams are comprised of players who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility and will compete for a $150,000 prize pool.
The Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship will be streamed live via Twitter on Friday, April 2 beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT and Saturday, April 3 beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT. On Sunday, April 4, the first 12 knockout games will be streamed live on Twitter beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT, and the semifinals, third-place game and championship game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Pile's Maverick career included two Academic All-America honors, a 2020 Summit League Defensive Player of the Year nod and two All-Summit Honorable Mention awards. He became Omaha's 42nd 1,000-point scorer in program history in December and finished his career ranked third in school history for career rebounds and fourth for career blocks. As a senior, he averaged 10.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 55.3%.
Teams will play each squad in their respective pool on April 2 and 3 before all 16 head to the knockout stage on April 4, with the top two teams from each pool receiving byes to the quarterfinals. The winning team from each pool play game will win $1,000. Victories in the first two knockout rounds will net another $1,000, a quarterfinal win is worth $5,000, a semifinal triumph is another $10,000, and the team that takes home the tournament title will add $50,000 to their winnings.
