OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's golf team is in eighth place after the first round of their own Stampede at The Creek on Monday.
Due to a persistent cold wind that slowed the pace of play, the second round was suspended and will be resumed on Tuesday before the third round is played immediately thereafter.
The Mavericks shot a team score of 318 in round one. South Dakota led with an opening-round tally of 301. North Dakota State was one stroke back in second, and South Dakota State was third at 305.
Josh Peters led the Mavericks in the first round with a six-over score of 78. Jacob Zerby, Phoomintr Kaewvichien and Noah Hartman all tied for second in team scoring with rounds of 80.
Josh Bartels was one stroke back of the trio after carding an 81 while Mathew Halvorson completed the team scoring with a score of 82.
Carter Doose shot 78, and Jack Tickle fired an 83 while playing as individuals.
