OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team is in eighth place after the first day of play at their own Stampede at The Creek on Monday.

Due to a persistent cold wind that slowed the pace of play, the second round was suspended and will be resumed on Tuesday before the third round is played immediately thereafter.

The Mavericks posted a score of 342 over the first 18 holes of the 54-hole event. South Dakota State had the first-round lead at 314. South Dakota was second at 325, and Wisconsin-Green Bay and Northern Iowa were tied for third at 327.

Zora Gittens had the Mavericks' top score in round one with an 84 while Hannah Hunke was a stroke back at 85 and Mika Miyata was one shot further distant at 86.

Izzi Puk and Jinna Boonbumroongsuk were 4-5 in scoring for UNO with an 87 and 88 respectively. Mandi Granato completed the team scoring with a round of 91.

Brynn Sundquist shot 89 and Cassidy Ulrich posted a card of 94 while playing as individuals.
