Mavericks Announce NCHC Schedule For 25th Anniversary Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha Hockey, in conjunction with the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, released its conference schedule for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday.
The Mavericks and the other seven member schools will play 24 conference games, with home-and-home series against five opponents and single two-game series against the other two. This season, the Mavericks will host but not travel to Minnesota Duluth while they will visit Western Michigan but not welcome the Broncos to Omaha.
Omaha's conference schedule begins on Nov. 5-6 when it hosts Miami at Baxter Arena. The Mavericks' other home series include Colorado College (Dec. 3-4), Denver (Jan. 7-8), Minnesota Duluth (Jan. 21-22), NCAA runner up St. Cloud State (Feb. 18-19) and defending Penrose Cup Champion North Dakota (March 4-5).
The Mavericks will play NCHC road series at St. Cloud State (Nov. 12-13), Western Michigan (Dec. 10-11), North Dakota (Jan. 14-15), Colorado College (Jan. 28-29), Miami (Feb. 11-12) and Denver (Feb. 25-26).
The Mavericks also will schedule 10 non-conference games including three home series. Those opponents and dates will be released at a later time.
The upcoming year will mark the 25th season of Omaha hockey. The Mavericks played their first season in 1997-98.
In 2020-21, Omaha finished with a record of 14-11-1 overall and 14-9-1-4-0 (1) in the NCHC, good for fourth place. It was the team's highest conference finish since 2014-15. The Mavericks earned their fourth NCAA tournament berth, playing in the NCAA West Regional in Loveland, Colo.
