Burkhardt, Meyer Sweep Summit League Accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Lexi Burkhardt and Kamryn Meyer swept Summit League weekly awards this week following Omaha's series at Kansas City. Burkhardt was tabbed Player of the Week, while Meyer earned Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Burkhardt earned Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. She hit .500 over four games totaling six hits, including two doubles and two homers, two runs, and seven RBI.
The junior outfielder had a hand in both Saturday wins vs. Kansas City Saturday. In the 12-inning 0-0 game, Burkhardt doubled to plate Allison Helton. The RBI was the game-winning RBI as Omaha won, 1-0. In game two with the Roos, Burkhardt tallied two homers, including a grand slam in the sixth to plate the game-winning run.
Meyer earned her second Pitcher of the Week honor. She finished the weekend 2-0 with a shutout and a 0.78 ERA.
The Wilton, Iowa native pitched a complete 12 inning game vs. the Roos and matched her career-best 13 strikeouts in game one earning the 1-0 shutout win. In game four vs. UMKC, Meyer retired another seven batters to finish the weekend with two wins.
The Mavericks return to action this weekend with their final series of the regular season. Omaha will play South Dakota at Connie Claussen Field on Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8 beginning at noon each day.
