Mavericks Unveil 2021-22 Non-Conference Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's basketball program has released its 2021-22 non-conference schedule, head coach Derrin Hansen announced Thursday.
The 11-game non-conference slate takes Omaha to five states with competition from eight other Division I conferences. The schedule has two opponents from the Big 12 and Big Sky and one apiece from the MAC, Big Ten, Ohio Valley, Missouri Valley, Southland and Mountain West Conference. It marks the second straight year Omaha has faced multiple Big 12 opponents.
The Mavericks open their 11th Division I campaign against Hastings on Nov. 9 at Ralston Arena, then open a stretch of five consecutive road contests at Ball State (Nov. 13).
Omaha visits Kansas State (Nov. 17) before playing at Montana (Nov. 20) as part of the Big Sky/Summit League Challenge.
The Mavericks wrap up the five-game road stretch at Texas Tech (Nov. 23) and Purdue (Nov. 26), then make their home debut four days later against SIUE (Nov. 30) at Baxter Arena.
"Once again, we have a very challenging non-conference slate," said Hansen. "Four of our 11 opponents played in last year's March Madness, including three in a four-game stretch beginning with Texas Tech and Purdue on the road."
Omaha continues its four-game homestand with back-to-back games against 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifiers in Eastern Washington (Dec. 4) and Drake (Dec. 8) before welcoming Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Dec. 11) at Baxter Arena.
"We're looking forward to our home opener at Baxter after five straight road games," added Hansen. "This year's home schedule presents a unique opportunity where we have three 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifiers coming to Baxter with Eastern Washington and Drake in back-to-back games and Oral Roberts in conference play."
A final road trip to UNLV (Dec. 15) closes the non-conference schedule before Summit League play begins at home vs. Saint Thomas (Dec. 20) and Western Illinois (Dec. 22).
