Daro Named Assistant Softball Coach

OMAHA, Neb. ā Head softball coach Mike Heard announced Jen Daro as the new assistant coach for the Mavericks Wednesday afternoon.

"Omaha Softball is very fortunate to have Coach Daro joining our team," said Heard. "She is one of the top up-and-coming young coaches out there.Ā She is dynamic, knowledgeable and a great teacher. I am very confident she will have an extremely positive impact on our program."

Daro joins the Mavericks following a three-year stint as an assistant coach with Pitt State. With the Gorillas, Daro helped the program to a 52-73 overall record. Over the three seasons, she helped eight players to All-MAIA honors and one player to All-Region recognition.

Prior to Pitt State, Daro served as a graduate assistant coach at St. Cloud State. The Huskies posted a 42-18 recorded during her tenure and qualified for the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament.

The Omaha native played collegiately at Creighton. While with the Bluejays, Daro helped the team to 94 wins over four seasons and 32 victories in the Big East.

In her career, Daro posted a .236 batting average and totaled 69 runs, 15 doubles, 21 homers, and 76 RBI.

"I extremely grateful for the opportunity Coach Heard and the UNO administration have given me to come home to Omaha," said Daro. "I'm excited to get to work and and help build the Mavericks' softball program back to a place of regional and national prominence."Ā

Daro earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Creighton in May 2017. She then completed her master's degree in higher education and leadership at St. Cloud State in May 2019.
