Saville on Richter Award Watch List
Jan 20, 2022 | Hockey
Omaha goalie Isaiah Saville has landed on the 2022 Richter Award Watch List.
The junior from Anchorage, Alaska, is one of 28 players from across who will compete for the trophy that has been presented annually to the NCAA's top goaltender in Division I hockey since 2014. Six of the athletes on the list play in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, including Maverick netminder.
Saville has been named the NCHC's Goaltender of the Week five times this season, the most by any player. The junior, a Vegas draft pick, has posted a 10-7 record in 17 starts with a .914 save percentage and a 2.28 goals-against average. Saville has recorded four of his six career shutouts this season.
A committee of voters – which includes coaches, administrators, scouts and media – will trim the initial Richter Award Watch List down to 15 players within the next two weeks. The winner will be announced during the 2022 Frozen Four in April.
