McCormick and Ruch Sweep Summit League Player of the Week Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - After helping Omaha pick up its record-breaking fifth sweep in a row last week, the Mavericks have now swept the weekly awards too, as Shayla McCormick was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week and McKenna Ruch the the TicketSmarter Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week by the Summit League earlier today.
During three shutout victories against Denver, Oral Roberts, and Kansas City last week, McCormick led the team with 39 kills and 4.33 kills per set, while also recording four service aces. She also earned back-to-back double-doubles against ORU (11 kills, 11 digs) and KC (13 kills, 13 digs). Before that, McCormick racked up 15 kills and a .379 hitting percentage against Denver to open the week.
This is the first career player of the week honor for McCormick.
As for Ruch, she had a dominant week as well, recording a team-high 15 total blocks and 1.67 blocks per set. She opened the week with a match-leading eight block assists against Denver, doubling the next highest total. She now has an even 100 total blocks on the season, becoming the first player in the league to reach the century mark. In addition to her defense, Ruch also had 26 kills and a pair of aces on attack.
This is Ruch's fourth career defensive player of the week honor, and her second of the season after claiming the title following opening week.
