Mavericks Open Up NCHC Play at Home Against No. 10 North Dakota

The Omaha Mavericks open up the gauntlet that is NCHC play this weekend at home against conference rival, the No. 10/11 University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks on Friday and Saturday with both puck drops slated for 7:07 PM.
The Teams
The Mavericks are sitting at 4-3-1 after the month of October. Omaha played four of their five non-conference opponents and are set to engage in the first of four regular season installments with conference foe, North Dakota.
North Dakota sits at No. 10 in the country currently. They enter this weekend at 3-3-1. The Fighting Hawks are coming off a 3-2 defeat to Arizona State in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Last Time Out
The Mavericks and Fighting Hawks last met during the final weekend of the 2021-22 NCHC regular season. They skated to a series split with UND taking Friday night's contest in overtime and Omaha responding on Saturday night with a 4-1 victory.

No stranger to wearing a leadership letter on his chest, Senior forward Nolan Sullivan will don the "C" for the Mavericks this season. He will be joined be senior and junior forwards Jack Randl and Matt Miller as they make their captaincy debut wearing the alternate captain "A".

Senior forward Jack Randl is currently tied for the NCAA lead in goals (10) and tied for second in goals per game (1.25). Randl has recorded a goal in 6 of the Mavericks 8 games. He is the first player in program history to score 8 goals in the first 6 games of a season. The previous record of 7 was held by Austin Ortega (15-16) and Brandon Scero (06-07). 5 of Randl's 8 games have been multi-point games.
Jack Attack II
Randl is the 19th player in Omaha Hockey history to score a goal in four consecutive games. It's the 27th time it has happened in program history. Randl is the third player in school history to score a goal in the first four games of the season. The only other players to score goals in the first four games of the season are Stanley Cup winner Jake Guentzel (2014-15) and Matt Ambroz (2010-11).
Among The Conference Leaders
Randl and Western Michigan defenseman Ryan McAllister are tied for 2nd in the NCHC with 13 points.

Omaha currently ranks second in the NCHC in power play percentage (.313) behind North Dakota. That number currently ranks 5th in the nation.
Veteran Presence
13 of the 14 returning skating letterwinners have registered a point so far this season. Senior forward Jack Randl, graduate student forward Tyler Weiss, sophomore defenseman Davis Pennington, junior forward Brock Bremer, senior forward Nolan Sullivan, junior forward Jimmy Glynn, junior defenseman Nolan Krenzen, junior forward Matt Miller, sophomore forward Ty Mueller, senior defenseman Kirby Proctor, sophomore forward Cameron Berg, graduate student defenseman Jonny Tychonick and junior forward Kaden Bohlsen have all found the scoresheet so far this season. Grad transfer and former Notre Dame captain, Jake Pivonka, has also landed on the scoresheet with a pair of assists and a goal.
There's a First Time For Everything
In Saturday's game against Long Island, both freshman blueliner Jo Lemay and junior forward Kaden Bohlsen scored their first career NCAA goals. Lemay buried his at the 15:55 mark of the 2nd period and Bohlsen ripped home a snapshot on the power play with 17 seconds remaining in regulation.
Nearing Milestones
Graduate Tyler Weiss is closing in on 100 career points. He currently sits at 98 points after grabbing two points last weekend against the Alaska. In 128 games with Omaha, Weiss has tallied 24 goals and 74 assists.
