Heard Adds JUCO Pitcher

OMAHA, Neb. - Head softball coach Mike Heard announced the addition of a transfer pitcher Monday afternoon. Abby Flanagan joins the Mavericks after playing two seasons at Des Moines Area Community College.
"We feel very fortunate to be adding a quality pitcher to our team for this coming season," said Heard. "Abby was very good at DMACC the past two seasons, and we feel confident she'll be able to help us in the circle immediately and provide some strong innings to our staff. She'll bring a great work ethic both on and off the field and be a great fit with our program."
While at DMACC, Flanagan helped the Bears to two NJCAA Nationals appearances where they finished fifth. The Bears won the ICCAC championship and Region XI-A championship both seasons. As a freshman, DMACC was the North Plains B champions, and followed that up with an A championship as a sophomore.
In her sophomore campaign, Flanagan posted a 15-1 record in the circle, and as a freshman, she finished 20-5 on the year. Flanagan was a two-time First Team All-Region selection.
"I'm very excited to be joining Omaha's softball program," said Flanagan. "I am thankful for the opportunity that the coaching staff has given me to keep playing softball with a great group at the next level."
