No. 8 Omaha Meets No. 1 SDSU in Summit League Quarterfinals

The Basics
Omaha earned the No. 8 seed in the Summit League Tournament after finishing 4-14 in league play this season. Omaha will face a undefeated No. 1 South Dakota State squad in the quarterfinals this weekend. The tournament will be held at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Tipoff between the Mavericks and Jackrabbits is at 6 p.m.

• Omaha has made the Summit League Tournament for the seventh consecutive year. They've qualified every season since becoming eligible in the 2015-16 season. This year marks the second straight year the Mavericks have earned the eighth seed and faced South Dakota State in the quarterfinals.
• The Mavericks wrapped up regular season action on the road last week with games at Western Illinois and St. Thomas.
• Against the Tommies, Sam'i Roe notched a new career-high with 15 points. He finished 5-of-9 from the field and hit five from the charity stripe. It marked the first time this season the senior guard scored double-figures.

• In league play, Fidler averaged 15.2 points per game ranking 11th on the leaderboards. He shot 49.3 percent from the field, which was fifth best in the league.
• Fidler holds the season-high 37 points scored by a freshman in Division I basketball this year. He was 12-of-14 from the field and 5-for-5 from deep at North Dakota for his career-night. He also sank seven of his eight attempts at the foul line.
• Arop has three double-figure rebounding games this season. He grabbed 10 for the first time in the league opener vs. St. Thomas back on Dec. 20. Arop then tallied a career-high 13 rebounds vs. Oral Roberts helping him to his first double-double with 10 points. Eight of those 13 boards were on the offensive glass. Arop then tallied 10 vs. Denver.
• The sophomore forward averaged 6.1 rebounds per game in league action tying him 11th on the leaderboards. He also tied seventh with 0.7 blocks per game.
• Lemetti leads the Mavericks in three-point field goals made per game at 2.1. It ranks eighth in the Summit League. The junior guard has made at least one three-pointer in every game this season.
• Lemetti hit a season-high seven three-pointers at UNLV back in December. It is still tied second in the league for a single-game high. It is also tied third on Omaha's all-time single-game charts.
• Lemetti and Smith rank in the top-10 players for assists in conference games. Lemetti averages 3.5 assists per game ranking fifth on the leaderboards. Smith comes in at ninth with 2.6. Both guards have a season-high seven assists notched in separate games this year.
• Head coach Derrin Hansen enters his 17th season at the helm. He has a 253-259 career record leading the Mavericks.
• The 2021-22 season is the 109th overall in program history and the 11th of the Mavericks' Division I era. All-time, the program is 1,207-1,346.
Scouting the South Dakota State Jackrabbits
The Jackrabbits finished the regular season 27-4 overall and 18-0 to be the first team in league history to go unbeaten in regular season action.
South Dakota State is led by the Summit League Player of the Year, Baylor Scheierman. He averages 16.2 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game. Scheierman shoots over 52 percent from the field and has hit 72 three-pointers this season. He also leads the Jackrabbits with 143 assists this season. Scheierman is joined by Douglas Wilson on the first team, while Zeke Mayo was named to the All-Newcomer Team. Luke Appel was tabbed the league's Sixth Man of the Year.
The Jackrabbits are led by the 2021-22 Coach of the Year, Eric Henderson. He is 65-21 overall and in his third year at the helm.
