
Mavericks Ready For South Texas Showdown

Omaha, Neb.- The Omaha women's golf team is back in the lone-star state for the South Texas Showdown in McAllen, Texas Monday and Tuesday, March 7-8.Â
Texas-Rio Grande Valley hosts the 15-team tournament at McAllen Country Club. The field includes Creighton, North Dakota, Drake, Illinois State, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Southern, and Utah Valley.Â
The Mavericks were in San Antonio two weeks ago at the Islander Classic. The team placed 13th with a total score of 944, shooting 319-321-305 in three rounds.Â
The lineup remains the same for the second-straight invite in Texas:Â

Jinna Boonbumroongsuk led Omaha and earned a share of eighth place on the leaderboard in San Antonio. The sophomore went just one-over in the first and third rounds, and six-over in the second for a total score of 221. Â
Mandi Granato finished the Islander Classic with a total score of 239 and a share of 63rd place overall. Mika Miyata closed the tournament with a total score of 242. Freshman Sydney Taake finished one stroke behind Miyata with a three-round score of 243. Freshman Emma Kirvan finished twelve strokes behind Taake, taking a share of 83rd.Â
Teams will play two rounds of golf on Monday and end with the third round on Tuesday. Both days start at 8:15, live stats will be available at OMavs.com. Â
