Mavericks Sit In Second At Stampede

Elkhorn, Neb.- The Omaha men's golf team is in second place after the first two rounds of the Stampede at the Creek on Monday.
The Mavericks scored 283 in the first round as a team, tying North Dakota State for first place. Omaha added 291 in the second round, falling behind the Bison and into a tie for second with St. Thomas.
Mathew Halvorson leads the Mavericks with a two-round total of 141. The senior scored 69(-3) in the first round, tallying six birdies to lead all golfers. Halvorson added an even 72 in the second round to close the first day in a tie for fourth place.
Carter Doose shares seventh place after scoring 73(+1) in round two. The sophomore scored 70(-2) in round one where he sank five birdies. Doose takes a total score of 143 to the final round on Tuesday.
Josh Peters scored 71(-1) in round one and 73(+1) in round two. The junior holds a share of 10th place with a gross total of 144.
Freshmen Christopher Atkinson and Kurtis Rodriguez finish the first two rounds with scores of 146 and 147, respectively. Atkinson scored 73(+1) in both rounds for a share of 16th place on the leaderboard. Rodriguez shot 74(+2) in the first round, adding 73(+1) in the second for a share of 22nd place overall.
Junior Phoomintr Kaewvichien scored 153 over two rounds for 40th place among all golfers.
