Meyer Sets Single-Game Record at St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Kamryn Meyer led the Mavericks to a 5-1 win vs. St. Thomas in the series opener Friday afternoon. The junior pitcher set the single-game program record with 18 strikeouts. It marked her 13th win in the circle. Omaha dropped the second game, 2-1.
With the split, the Mavericks improve to 18-12 overall and 7-4 in league play.

How It Happened:
- Izzy Eltze didn't waste any time Friday nailing the very first pitch out of the park. Her solo homer went over the right field fence and gave the Mavericks a 1-0 lead at the end of one.
- Omaha doubled its lead in the second inning. Rachel Weber led off the inning with a walk and was hit around the bases on a triple from Maggie O'Brien.
- The Tommies cut the lead in half in the fourth inning. Goelz got ahold of the ball for a solo home run to left field.
- It remained a tight race until the Mavericks plated another three runs in the top of the seventh. They gained an early base runner with a bunt from Lynsey Tucker. Jamie White tallied an RBI with a single to left field that allowed Tucker to score.Ā
- Ross and Lexi Burkhardt reached on two straight walks. They both ended up scoring on an error by St. Thomas. It capped the scoring and Omaha won, 5-1.
- Meyer retired a career-high 18 batters. It set a new single-game program record. The previous record was 17 notched in the 2004 season.
- Meyer improves to 13-5 in the circle.
- Omaha finished with seven hits.
- Tucker was the lone Maverick with multiple in the game.
- Tucker, Eltze, and Ross each tallied a stolen base.
How It Happened:
- The Tommies got on board first in the second game of Friday's play. In the third inning, they loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a walk. Hudson reached on a fielder's choice and tallied an RBI. Mickett scored for UST, while Omaha took the force out at third base.
- In the top of the fourth, Omaha tied the game at 1-1. Ross homered to left field to spark a three-hit inning for the Mavericks.
- Baniecke responded with a home run for the Tommies in the bottom of the fourth inning. It marked the game winning run and UST won, 2-1.
- Sydney Nuismer made the start in the circle. She falls to 2-4 on the year.
- She retired five batters.
- Sydney Hampton came in for relief.
- Omaha recorded five hits in game two.
- Weber had two of them.
