Ambrose Inks with Men's Basketball

OMAHA, Neb. - Jamal Ambrose is the third recruit to sign in the last week with Omaha men's basketball. Ambrose will join the Mavericks as a true freshman in the fall.
"We are excited to add Jamal to the Maverick family," said head coach Chris Crutchfield. "We needed size and he gives us that and even more. Jamal is a skilled and mobile forward with a centers body. Coach Brown did a great job of locking in on Jamal and building a relationship with him. He is a great student, and Omaha is going to love him."
Ambrose is a letterwinner out of Eastview High School in Apple Valley, Minnesota where he helped the Lightning to a 23-8 overall record, a Section 3AAAA Championship, and state tournament appearance as a senior.
Over 27 games played in the 2021-22 season, Ambrose averaged 15.8 points per game on 68.4 percent from the field. He nearly averaged a double-double with 8.0 rebounds per game.
"I chose Omaha because I like everything about it - the coaches, the campus, the city," said Ambrose. "I like the vision the coaches have for the team. It just seems like the right fit."
Ambrose scored 46 points in a single game last season, which is second on Eastview's all-time single game scoring list. It also marked his second game of the year surpassing the 40-point mark.
While with the Lightning, Ambrose collected 2022 Class 4A All-State, All-Tournament, and All-Senior Team honors. He was also tabbed as a MBCA All-Star Series Athlete and SSC All-Conference. Ambrose was named to the 2022 Mr. Basketball Watch List and was a 2021 MBCA Showcase Athlete.
