Little Rock Tabs Farrell as Head Women's Soccer Coach

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Head women's soccer coach Tim Walters has announced that Kelly Farrell has been tabbed as Little Rock's next head women's soccer coach. Farrell spent the last five seasons with the Mavericks. She made her start as an assistant in 2017 and was elevated to an associate head coach in 2019.
Farrell is now the second assistant coach to move on to a head coaching role at a Division I program. She joins Molly Rouse who leads Dixie State.
"First of all I'm so happy for Kelly to have this opportunity to lead the program at Little Rock," said Walters. "Kelly has been a great leader and mentor for our student athletes here in Omaha and is fully deserving of this. She has bided her time and waited for the right opportunity to come along, and I believe she has found it at Arkansas Little Rock.
"Second, I think it speaks volumes to what the players here have achieved in the last five years. I know they are sad to see her move on, but are delighted for her to be a Head Coach at the Division 1 level. We will now take our time and make sure we find the right person to help us win a championship here in Omaha."
In 2021, Farrell helped Walters lead the Mavericks to the most wins they have seen in a single season since the Division I transition. Omaha finished 9-8-2 on the year with its second straight Summit League Tournament appearance. The Mavericks made it in the spring of 2021 and advanced to the championships match to take on No. 1 Denver.
"My time in Omaha has been so special because of the people I've had the privilege of working with. I am immensely grateful to Tim for the opportunity he gave me here. I am so proud of what we've accomplished together," said Farrell. "Tim has been an incredible mentor and friend. I would like to thank the players who I've had the honor of coaching over the past five years. They are outstanding athletes but even better human beings, and I'm thankful to have been a part of their Maverick journey. I would also like to thank my fellow soccer staff members for their support and camaraderie over the course of my time in Omaha."
Farrell helped the Mavericks to 36 program wins, which includes 23 Summit League victories. Farrell's guidance helped the Mavericks earn their first Newcomer and Goalkeeper of the Year awards. In addition to the major awards, Omaha saw two All-Region, three All-Summit First Team, six All-Summit Second Team, two All-Freshman, eight All-Newcomer, eight All-Tournament, one College Soccer New All-Freshman Third Team, and two Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Top-100 selections during Farrell's tenure.
"I know my experience in Omaha has prepared me to lead in Little Rock, and I take a lot of pride in knowing that I've played a small part in leaving the program better than I've found it. I am so excited to watch this group compete from afar and will always be a Maverick fan!"
