Thomas Inks with Omaha Softball

OMAHA, Neb. - Head softball coach Mike Heard added another signee to the 2023 roster. Maddox Thomas joins a recruiting class of five under first year head coach.
"Maddox is the type of student-athlete that will fit perfectly into what we are building," said Heard. "She is great in classroom and a high character person off the field. On the field, Maddox has the ability to contribute immediately both offensively and defensively. We are excited she decided to become a Maverick!"
Thomas is a four-year letterwinner out of Claremore High School in Oklahoma. In her senior season, Thomas hit .652 leading her to the Regional Female Athlete of the Year recognition. She was also named to the Oklahoma Large East First Team, All-State Catcher, District 5A-3 Player of the Year, and All-District Catcher honors. She helped her team to a 22-16 record and a trip to the regional finals.
As a junior, Thomas and her squad made it to the state semifinals with a 23-14 record. She was named a District 5A-3 Offensive Player of the Year and an All-District Team Catcher. Thomas helped her team to the regional finals as both a sophomore and freshman. She earned District 5A-3 Defensive Player of the Year honors and All-District Catcher accolades as a sophomore.
"Omaha felt like home as soon as I stepped on campus," said Thomas.Ā "It has the small school feeling that I grew up with, and I absolutely loved it. The coaches were so welcoming and made my commitment to the team so easy."
Thomas is one of three in her family to play collegiate softball. Her mom, Traci, played at Northeastern State, while her sister, Mackenzie, played at Oklahoma State and made the College World Series in 2019.
