Pair of Hockey Alums Ink Professional Contracts

OMAHA, Neb. - Two former Maverick hockey players inked professional contracts this week. Josh Archibald signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, while Andrej Sustr signed with the Minnesota Wild.
Archibald played for Omaha from 2011-14. He was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in 2011 and began his NHL career with the Penguins in the 2015-16 season. Archibald helped Pittsburgh to winning the Stanley Cup in 2017 before being traded to Arizona where he played for over a year.
Archibald then signed a free agent contract with the Edmonton Oilers and played with them from 2019-22. He will return to the Penguins and play with former Omaha teammate Jake Guentzel.
At Omaha, Archibald was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist in 2014. He was tabbed the NCHC Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, and a member of the NCHC All-Conference First team that same year. He led the NCHC in scoring and was tabbed an AHCA CCM First Team West All-American.
Sustr signed with the Wild earlier this week. He played the last eight years in the NHL playing for the Anaheim Ducks and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sustr played in 333 career games in Tampa. He netted 11 goals and tallied 53 assists over seven seasons with the Lightning.
While at Omaha, Sustr was named All-WCHA Third Team following a nine goal and 16 assist season in 2012-13.
