Ensley Shines in First Collegiate Race as Mavericks Place Sixth at Augustana in Season Debut

In her first ever collegiate 5K race, freshman runner Kamryn Ensley finished 9th overall this evening at the Augustana Twilight Meet in a field of over 300 runners with a time of 18:12.22. Her mark helped Omaha finish 6th in their first race of the season tonight.
"In her first race as a Maverick, Kamryn did a phenomenal job," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said. "She is a tough racer and it showed today going toe to toe with some of the regions best. Really excited to see her continue to trust herself as we build a strong fitness foundation."
The Mavericks had two other runners finish top-25 this evening. Freshman Lily Jackson who placed 15th ran a 18:31.43 and senior Maya Nachtigal who ran 18:49.13 to finish 25th. Senior Maret Elgren, who transferred from Nebraska to the Mavericks this season, finished 48th with a time of 19:17.91.
"I am so proud of our effort tonight, "Cisar said. "With a field this size, it was a must to get out and find a position early. We did just that and the each person was able to make the most of where they found themselves. There is a lot of fitness to gain from here, but the momentum is heading in the right direction."
Omaha gets back to work on September 17th at the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invite.
