Cross Country Heads to Gans Creek Classic for Third Race of the Season
Sep 29, 2022 | Cross Country
The Omaha Cross Country team heads to the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri looking to continue their strong 2022 season. Tomorrow's meet marks the first 6K race that the Mavericks will race in this campaign.
"Very excited to turn the page into late September/October racing. Each racing opportunity just gets that much more important during this time of the Fall," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said. "You can really start to see all the consistent hard work put in as these athletes start to get primed up and prepped to run fast."
Freshman runner Kamryn Ensley has finished 9th overall in both meets so far this season for the Mavericks. She'll look to replicate her earlier success in her third career collegiate race tomorrow in Missouri.
While the Cross Country season may be short, the Mavericks have made the most of their time together as a team on and off the Touraine.
"Growth from the beginning of any year is never linear. There are always times of great positivity and great challenges," Cisar said. "I am very proud on how this team has handled both, and how they approach each tough day with a high level of focus when we need to challenge ourselves. I'm even more proud about the ability to let go and enjoy each other's presence during the recovery days in between cementing that the growth."
The Mavericks 6,000-meter race kicks off at 9:45 a.m. Live results will be found at PrimeTime Timing.
