
Mavericks Start Season Monday In Missouri

Springfield, Mo.- The Omaha women's golf team begins the 2022 fall season with the Payne-Stewart Invitational at Missouri State on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 12-13.
The Bears welcome 14 schools to Rivercut golf course in Springfield, Missouri, including Arkansas State, Creighton, Drury, Montana State, Murray State, Oklahoma City, South Dakota, Southern Illinois, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, UTEP, Western Illinois, and Wichita State.
Three newcomers make the lineup in the first event for the Mavericks:
Indv. Maddie Simon
Mika Miyata returns for her third season with the Mavericks. The junior has appeared in 47 of the last 56 rounds over two seasons. Maddie Simon and Sydney Taake are both entering their second seasons. Taake had the second-best scoring average on the team last season at 78.6. Simon played 18 rounds over six events as a freshman. Miyata, Simon, and Taake all helped the 2021-22 team to the best season-scoring average in program history at 315.4.
Nicole Hansen makes her first appearance with the Mavericks. The graduate transfer spent last season at Nebraska, notching one first-place finish at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational and earning Big Ten co-golfer of the week honors. Macarena Garcia and Emily Karmazin make their collegiate debuts with the Mavericks on Monday in Missouri. Garcia, the freshman from Salamanca, Spain, has competed in 11 European golf tournaments since 2019 with a scoring average of 82.6. Karmazin, the freshman and Omaha native, was a Nebraska super-state team member as a junior and senior with Elkorn North.
