Mavericks Prepped for 2023 Summit League Championships in Brookings

The Omaha Cross Country is primed to race in their penultimate meet of the season tomorrow afternoon at the 2023 Summit League Cross Country Championships in Brookings, South Dakota.
"We've had a solid road of work to get to this point in the season. As championships approach it's always important to just control what we can control and not alter our approach that has allowed us to compete at a high level all Fall," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said. "The team will be ready to give it their all at Noon on Saturday in Brookings."
The Mavericks have pieced together a strong season up to this point of the season with two top-five finishes and a top-10 finish. The top-five finishes are highlighted by a fifth place finish at the Augustana Twilight Meet to open the campaign and a second place finish at the second annual Omaha Platte River Rumble, two weeks ago. In their second meet of the season, Omaha placed ninth at the difficult Woody Greeno Invitational where their entire top five finished the 5k race in under 18:41.
Omaha will look to improve upon last year's seventh place finish at the Summit League Championships. Then Freshman Kamryn Ensley finished 4th overall and broke her own 6K school record that she set earlier in the 2022 season at the Gans Creek Classic. Ensley was named Newcomer of the Championship for her performance.
Tomorrow's conference meet gets underway from Edgebrook Golf Course at 12:00 p.m.
