Omaha Volleyball Earns the No. 2 Seed in Summit League Tournament

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Volleyball team will enter the Summit League Tournament as the No. 2 seed after a lengthy tiebreaking process. The Mavericks earn a first-round bye and will automatically advance to Monday's first semifinals match at 4 p.m. vs. the winner of Denver vs. South Dakota State.
Omaha, Kansas City, Denver, and South Dakota all finished with the same 12-4 record in Summit League competition to each earn a share of the regular season title. The Roos took the No. 1 seed due to the best head-to-head record of the four teams at 4-2. Due to the Coyotes, Mavericks, and Pioneers all being 1-1 against each other, the next tiebreaker was record against the No. 1 seed. Omaha and Denver both went 1-1, while South Dakota went 0-2, making them the No. 4 seed.
Since Omaha and Denver had the same record against the remaining eight teams in the standings, the next tiebreaker used was head-to-head set winning percentage, with the Mavericks winning five of eight sets against the Pioneers to ultimately claim the No. 2 seed.
The remaining teams in the tournament are No. 5 North Dakota State and No. 6 South Dakota State. Competition will begin in Vermillion, S.D. this Sunday with the quarterfinals round.
