
Mavericks Finish First Two Rounds of Islander Classic

Corpus Christi, Texas— The Omaha women's golf team is in seventh place after the first two rounds of the Islander Classic on Monday.
The Mavericks recorded a team score of 315 in the first round, and 325 in the second for a day-one total of 640. Omaha sits three strokes behind sixth-place Lamar, who recorded a score of 637 through two rounds.
Mika Miyata leads the Mavericks through two rounds. The junior notched matching scores of 77 (+5) in rounds one and two and currently holds eighth place overall. Miyata recorded five birdies through 36 holes, tying for third among all golfers in that category.
Nicole Hansen and Sydney Taake share 15th place after the first day of action in Corpus Christi. Hansen shot a 76 (+4) in the first round, and an 82 in the second. Taake tallied five birdies throughout the first two rounds, scoring a 78 (+6) in round one, and an 80 (+8) in round two.
Freshmen Macarena Garcia and Emily Karmazin are in 63rd and 68th place, respectively. Karmazin totaled 87 in the first round and 86 in the second. Garcia notched an 86 in round two after an 84 in round one, where she eagled her first hole of the day, a par 4, 301-yard hole seven.
