Mavericks Head North to Compete in USD Alumni Meet

The Omaha Mavericks Track & Field team will make a quick trip North to Vermillion, South Dakota tomorrow to compete in the USD Alumni Invite.
"This meet will be smaller than any of the ones we have been to so far, but the competition will be very good," Omaha head coach Chris Richardson said. "We've had some people really step up over the past few weeks and we're looking for others to do the same. We talk a lot about goals, but their actions need to reflect those goals."
The Mavericks will be competing in the 60m hurdles, 4x200, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, weight throw, 60m and 800m at tomorrow's meet.
For the season, Omaha's top marks for all events tomorrow go as followed. 9.32 seconds in the 60m hurdles from Freshman Addison Webster, 5' 3" in the high jump by Junior Kaitlin Hellbusch, 17' 8" from Senior Carrie Simonson in the long jump, 37' 11.25" from Freshman Emma Klein in the triple jump, a 41' 8.75" throw by Sophomore Mary Fennessy in the shot put, A 53' 9.25" throw also by Fennessy, 7.72 seconds from Simonson and a time of 2:19.83 from Sophomore Gwen Steffen in the 800m.
The Mavericks will head back to South Dakota next weekend to compete in the two-day SDSU Indoor Classic.
