Mavericks Outscore Tommies 17-1 in Saturday Doubleheader

The Omaha Mavericks Softball team swept their Saturday doubleheader with the St. Thomas Tommies. Omaha defeated St. Thomas 8-1 in the first game of the afternoon and 9-0 in Game 2.

How It Happened
- Omaha opened up a 3-0 lead with a three-run 2nd inning
- Lynsey Tucker doubled to left field bringing home Sophie Cerveny and Olivia Aden
- The next at bat, Rachel Weber registered an RBI single scoring Tucker
- In the 3rd inning, Olivia Aden hit a sacrifice fly to right field which scored Ava Rongisch
- Cerveny hit an RBI bunt single to score Marra Cramer from third to take a 5-0 lead after three innings
- Omaha added their final three runs in the 6th inning. Maggie O'Brien doubled to left center bringing home Cerveny to start the scoring.
- Sydney Ross hit an RBI single to right center to score O'Brien
- Weber scored on a throwing error for Omaha's eighth run

- Kamryn Meyer pitched to her seventh victory of the season bringing her record to 7-5
- Meyer pitched her eighth complete game of the season
- Meyer allowed one run on four hits, striking out 15
- Meyer struck out the first batter she faced today to register her 600th career strikeout

How It Happened
- Lynsey Tucker flied out to center field to score Emma Durr to get the scoring started for Omaha in the bottom of the 3rd inning
- St. Thomas walked Rachel Weber with the bases loaded which brought home Olivia Aden to make it 2-0
- Marra Cramer reached home plate off a fielders choice to bring the contest to 3-0
- Lynsey Tucker ripped her first homerun of the season to make it 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th
- A two-run homerun from Sydney Ross and a three-run from Emma Durr helped Omaha enforce the run rule on St. Thomas finalizing the game in 5 innings
GAME NOTES
- Sydney Nuismer picked up the win on the mound today improving to 7-3 on the season
- Seven of the nine players in the starting lineup picked up at least one hit in today's second game
- Game 2's blankingĀ is the third shutout victory of the season for the Mavericks
