McAllen, Texas—The Omaha women's golf team returns to Texas for the UTRGV Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 6-7.
Format
The UTRGV Invitational, hosted by Texas Rio Grande Valley, is a two-day, 54-hole event. The first two rounds will be played on Monday, with the final round on Tuesday. Both days begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 A.M.
Field
Fourteen teams join the Mavericks in McAllen, including Bowling Green, Creighton, Drake, Houston Christian, Illinois Chicago, Indiana State, Lamar, Northern Iowa, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Kingsville, Texas Southern, and Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Lineup
The same five Mavericks return for another tournament in Texas after a ninth-place finish at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi last time out.
Nicole Hansen earned a share of 13th place at the Islander Classic. Hansen led the Mavericks with a three-round total of 237, placing in the top-20 for the second-straight event and third tournament this season.
Sydney Taake used a low round of 78 for a total score of 249 in Corpus Christi. The sophomore earned a share of 51st place on the leaderboard.
Macarena Garcia eagled the first hole of the tournament two weeks ago. Garcia finished with a three-round score of 256 and a share of 61st place.
Emily Karmazin saved her best for last in the first event of the spring. Karmazin recorded a 79 in the final round of the Islander Classic for a share of 56th place.
Mika Miyata was the second Maverick in the top-20 after 54 holes in Corpus Christi. Miyata took 17th place, recording a total score of 238 with a 77 (+5) in each of the first two rounds.
