Mavericks Meet Jack Rabbits in Sioux Falls this Weekend

LEADING OFF
The 18-10 Omaha Mavericks currently sit in fourth place in the Summit League. They'll meet the second place South Dakota State Jack Rabbits for a three-game series in Sioux Falls, S.D. The games this weekend were moved to Sioux Falls due to current field conditions at the Jack Rabbits stadium.
QUICK HITS
• The Mavericks begin a seven-game road trip on Friday with a three-game series against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Omaha will play at Creighton and Kansas City before returning to Connie Claussen Field.
• Omaha won its series against North Dakota last weekend, taking two of three games. The Mavericks won both games of the double-header on Saturday before falling in the series finale on Sunday by a score of 4-2 in extra innings (9).
• Freshman Marra Kramer notched a season-high three hits in the loss to the Fighting Hawks on Sunday. Kamryn Meyer struck out 14 batters over nine innings full. Meyer walked just two of the 32 batters she faced.
• Catcher Sydney Ross leads the Summit League in stolen bases. Ross stole two bags in the win over North Dakota in game one on Friday, and now has 11 steals on the season.
• Lysney Tucker had another two-hit game against North Dakota on Friday. Tucker leads the Mavericks with 10 multi-hit games, 32 hits and a batting average of .368. • Pitcher Kamryn Meyer recorded a season-high 16 strikeouts in her eighth win of the season on Friday. Her 10th complete game and second shutout this year, Meyer allowed just one hit, utilizing the defense for only six putouts.
•Meyer continues to dominate the Summit League. Through 12 starts, Meyer leads the league with an ERA of 1.33 and 154 strikeouts, including 38 batters struck-out looking.
• The Omaha softball team was tabbed second in the 2023 Summit League Preseason Poll, the league announced. Kamryn Meyer and Lynsey Tucker were selected as Athletes to Watch.
• Head coach Mike Heard enters his second season at the helm. He compiled a 32-14 overall record in his first year. Over his seven-year head coaching career, Heard sits at 184-110.

The Jackrabbits welcome the Mavericks to Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, S.D. for a three-game Summit League set. Entering the weekend, the Jacks are 3-0 in conference play after a sweep in St. Paul over St. Thomas. SDSU outscored St. Thomas 14-1 over 21 innings. Prior to the Tommies' series, the Jackrabbits lost a game at Wichita State by a score of 4-3.
JACKRABBITS TO WATCH
• Mia Jarecki leads the Summit League in triples (3), on-base percentage (.470), and walks (25). She leads SDSU with a batting average of .343.
• Alivya Bollen and Emma Osmundson are also batting above .300. Bollen is averaging .333 at the dish, while Osmundson is batting .327.
• Tori Kniesche leads the way in the circle for the Jacks. She leads the Summit League in wins (12), and opposing batting average (.162). She is third in the League in ERA with 2.39
