Mavericks Explode for 14 Runs to Advance to Summit League Championship

For the third year in a row, the Omaha Mavericks have advanced to the Summit League Championship. The Mavericks grabbed an early lead and never looked back defeating South Dakota 14-2 in five innings. Omaha, who has not lost a game in this double elimination postseason tournament, will play the winner of SDSU and USD in the losers bracket tomorrow.

How It Happened
- Lynsey Tucker opened today's semifinal tilt with a leadoff single and two batters later she was brough home by a double down the 3rd baseline from Rachel Weber
- With bases loaded and count full Ava Rongisch singled to left field to extend Omaha's lead to 3-0 over USD in the top of the 1st
- Sophie Cerveny drew a two-out bases loaded walk which brought home Emma Durr to make it 4-0
- That was followed by another bases loaded drawn walk by Lynsey Tucker which gave the Mavericks a 5-0 lead. Rongisch crossed home plate for the run
- The bats stayed in the top of the 2nd inning as Omaha added another four runs to go up 9-0 on the Yotes
- The 2nd inning scoring started with Marra Cramer singling to the shortstop which brought home Sydney Ross
- Olivia Aden reached base on an error with the bases loaded, Emma Durr touched home for Omaha
- The next two at bats, Sophie Cerveny and Lynsey Tucker both reached 1st base safely on a fielders choices scoring another two runs
- USD scored twice in the bottom of the 3rd to cut the Mavericks lead to 9-2
- A bases clearing double by Rachel Weber in the top of the 4th inning gave the Mavericks a double digit lead of 12-2 over USD
- Rachel Weber registered her fourth 4RBI game of the season this afternoon
- The Mavericks advance to their third consecutive Summit League Championship with today's victory
- Kamryn Meyer and Sydney Nuismer one-two punched their way to victory for the Mavericks today
- Picking up the win, Meyer pitched two innings allowing no runs, no hits and tallied four strikeouts
- Nuismer pitched the final three inning allowing just two hits and two runs while striking out four
