Seven Mavericks Garner All-League Honors for 2023

The Summit League released their 2023 All-League teams and awards this morning. Seven Mavericks in Kamryn Meyer, Lynsey Tucker, Sydney Nuismer, Sydney Ross, Rachel Weber, Maggie O'Brien and Ava Rongisch earned All-League accolades.
FIRST TEAM
Kamryn Meyer and Lynsey Tucker were both tabbed All-Summit League First Team for their respective pitching and infield positions. This is Meyer's second consecutive season being named to the first team while Tucker earns her first career All-League First Team nod.
On the mound this season, Meyer has pitched a statistical masterpiece of a season. Her 1.21 earned run average and 242 strikeouts leads the Summit League. Meyer was the winning pitcher in 14 of the Mavericks 29 regular season victories. The Senior ace also became the Mavericks all-time strikeout leader this season surpassing Cheris Kuster's 698 K's. A record that stood for 16 years. A 2023 three-time Softball Peak Pitcher of the week, Meyer's career strikeout total sits at 737.
Lynsey Tucker led the Mavericks in batting average this season posting a .351 for the regular season which was good for sixth in the Summit. Starting in all 44 games for the Mavericks, Tucker's 26 runs and 52 hits also led the way for Omaha this season. The Lincoln, Nebraska native ranked sixth in the Summit League for hits. Tucker achieved career highs in hits and runs batted in this season with 18. The Senior infielder has struckout just 13 times in 148 at bats this year.
SECOND TEAM
Pitcher Sydney Nuismer, catcher Sydney Ross and outfielder Rachel Weber all earned their first All-League honors with their Second Team landing. All three Mavericks played a vital role in helping Omaha lockdown the No. 2 seed for the Summit League Tournament.
This season, Nuismer more than doubled her career best in wins going 13-7 on the mound this year for Omaha. In 117.2 innings pitched, the Junior pitcher recorded nine complete games and one shutout performance. Her 80 K's is a career best mark. Nuismer's 2.97 ERA was good for sixth in the Summit League this season.
Appearing in 42 games and starting 39 of them, Sydney Ross wrapped up the regular season tied for the second best team batting average at .299. Ross's six home runs led the Mavericks this season and was the sixth best mark in the league. The Senior catcher recorded 22 RBI's this year which is a career high for her. Eight times this season Ross recorded multi-hit games including a three-hit night against Kansas City on April 16.
One of the three Mavericks to appear in and start all 44 games this season, Rachel Weber finished the regular season batting .299, tied with Ross. No other Maverick had more RBI's this season than Weber with 31. That ties her for seventh in the Summit. She recorded a career best 44 hits with 11 doubles, one triple and four home runs, the second most on the team. Weber was named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week after going 8-11 with 4 RBI's against Western Illinois. The Lincoln, Nebraska native had 10 multi-hit games including three three-hit games.
HONORABLE MENTION
Maggie O' Brien and Ava Rongisch each earned their first All-League honors being named to the Summit League Honorable Mention Team.
O' Brien, in her second season with the Mavericks, started all 44 games. Her .271 batting average ranked fourth among her teammates. She totaled 20 runs on 39 hits. Her 10 doubles was good for second on the team.
Omaha native and rookie outfielder Ava Rongisch appeared in 37 games and started 35 of them. Batting .233, Rongisch recorded 14 runs, 21 hits, 11 RBI's and two home runs. Her first career homerun tied the game against Creighton in the 2nd inning, a game Omaha would go on to win 2-1.
