Mavericks Posted Top 10 GPA Nationally; 17 Mavericks Earn All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

The Omaha Mavericks softball team posted a top 10 GPA among Division I teams, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon. Along with the team's top 10 ranking, 17 student athletes captured Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2022-23 academic year.
Collectively the team recorded a 3.699 GPA during the 2022-23 season, ranking them tenth in the nation.
The individual athletes who posted above a 3.5 GPA and earned All-America Scholar-Athlete honors include Olivia Aden, Sophie Cerveny, Anna Chapman, Emma Durr, Rylan Ewoldt , Abby Flanagan, Emma Hain, Jaelle Johnson, Jenna Marshall, Kamryn Meyer, Sydney Nuismer, Maggie O'Brien, Alex Olson, Ava Rongisch, Sydney Ross, Maddox Thomas, Lynsey Tucker.
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. NCAA Division I led the way with 2,515 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2022-23. Celebrating 40 years in 2023, the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded Awards Program, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from NFCA podcasts to a comprehensive drills database, to in-person events and a National Convention.
