
Garcia In Top-10 After First Two Rounds At Missouri State

Springfield, Mo.-- The Omaha women's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Payne Stewart Memorial hosted by Missouri State on Monday, Sept. 11.Â
Omaha is in 11th place after the first and second rounds on Monday. The Mavericks finished the first round with a team score of 301, and scored 295 in round two. Results from the second round have yet to be finalized. Omaha is three strokes behind Creighton, which sits in 10th place. They are a stroke ahead of 12th-place Wyoming.Â
Macarena Garcia leads the Mavericks after the first two rounds. The sophomore scored 74 (+2) in the first round, and 70 (-2) in the second for an even 144 on day one. The native of Salamanca, Spain used eight par-or-better holes, including five straight birdies in the second round for the second lowest round-score of her career. Macarena currently holds a share of 8th place on the individual leaderboard.Â
Nicole Hansen is tied for 33th place after a two-round total of 149. Hansen used six birdies in the first round for a score of 74 (+2) and followed with a 75 (+3) in the second. Sydney Taake finished one stroke behind Hansen, and holds 39th place with a day one score of 150. Taake scored matching rounds of 75 (+3) in rounds one and two.
Emily Karmazin finished the first day five strokes behind Hansen with a score of 154. The sophomore scored 79 (+5) in round one and improved to 75 (+3) in round two for a share of 51st place overall. Mika Miyata was two strokes behind Karmazin with a score of 156 over the first 36 holes. Miyata scored 78 (+6) in both the first and second rounds, tying for 59th place on the leaderboard.
Golfing individually, Lavinia Romito is tied with Karmazin in 51st place on the leaderboard.. In her first round with the Mavericks, the junior recorded a 79 (+5). Romito followed with a 75 (+3) in the second round for a day-one total of 154. Emma Kirvan scored 159 over the first two rounds. Kirvan recorded an 83 in round one, and scored a career-best round of 75Â (+3) in round two.Â
