Green Earns Ticketsmarter Summit League Co-Offensive Peak Performer of the Week

Omaha, Neb.-- Forward Sophia Green has been named one of this week's TicketSmarter Summit League Offensive Peak Performers, league officials announced on Monday, Sept. 25.
Green shares the honor with NDSU's Kelsey Kallio, who was tabbed Co-Offensive Peak Performer of the week by the Summit League.
"I'm happy for Sophia to finally win performer of the week," head coach Tim Walters said. "She has been working hard on the field and is getting rewarded with goals. Her teammates are doing a great job of getting her the ball in dangerous spots, and she continues to make the most of it."
Green currently leads the Summit League with eight goals and 18 points through 10 games this year. She had two goals over the Mavericks' first two games of league play as Omaha holds first place with four points.
On Thursday at North Dakota, Sophia scored her career-high seventh goal of the season. In the 54th minute, the senior from Allyn, Wash., received a 60-yard pass from Regan Zimmers and put it in the back of the net. The goal gave the Mavericks a two-goal lead, which they held through full time.
Then on Sunday at North Dakota State, Green tallied her eighth goal of the year off another assist from Zimmers and Cece Behrens. Green drew a yellow card, taking a hard foul at the midfield line in the 48th minute. On the ensuing free kick, Zimmers connected with Behrens who headed the ball to Green to score her third goal in as many matches. Green scored in four-straight matches earlier this season.
For Green, it is the first weekly award of her career with the Mavericks. She joins Emma Konsmo and Grace Crockett, who were named TicketSmarter Summit League Defensive Peak Performers of the Week earlier this season.
Green and the first-place Mavericks return to Omaha to face the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts on Thursday, Sept. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Caniglia Field.
