Scouting the Kansas City Roos
The Roos only play one game this week as they come to Omaha at 7-12 on the year and 1-3 in the conference. After winning the Summit League opener vs. ORU (77-60), they have since lost three straight to St. Thomas (56-77), NDSU (91-92 2OT), and North Dakota (69-82).
Junior guards Jamar Brown and Cameron Faas lead the way for Kansas City as they are one and two on the Roos in both scoring and rebounding. Brown is shooting .443 from the field and has 265 points and 13.9 ppg while also pulling down 121 rebounds (6.4 rpg). As for Faas, he owns a .425 3-PT FG% and totals 206 points (10.8 ppg) and 94 rebounds (4.9 rpg).
Other notable players include junior forward Allen David Mukeba Jr., who is first on the team with a .533 FG% and 20 blocks, and graduate student guard Khristion Courseault, who leads the Roos with 75 assists and is third in scoring with 172 points (9.1 ppg).
Marvin Menzies is in his second year leading the Roos following three years heading up UNLV's program and nine years at the helm of New Mexico State before that. He has led five different squads to the NCAA Tournament, all during his time at NMSU. He left the Aggies with the third-best winning percentage in WAC history, a 2014-15 WAC Coach of the Year Award, and seven total WAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles.

Omaha is currently 10-9 all-time and 8-9 in the Division I era vs. Kansas City after going 1-2 in the season series last year. The Mavericks dropped the first two meetings against the Roos in the regular season before pulling off a 73-61 upset in the first round of the Summit League Tournament. Frankie Fidler's 43 points led Omaha in the series, while Marquel Sutton paced the team with 15 rebounds.

- The Mavericks fell back into second place on Thursday at 10-10 (3-2) after falling just short of a miraculous comeback at South Dakota State in a 90-87 loss.
- Trailing by just two at halftime, the Mavericks found themselves down 14 halfway through the second period at SDSU. They eventually got back within one point with under a minute to go, but came a single missed three-pointer short of forcing overtime at the buzzer.
