Mavericks Head West to Take on Idaho State in Big Sky-Summit Challenge Finale

The Mavericks wrap up the Big Sky-Summit Challenge this Saturday at 6 p.m. (MT)/7 p.m. (CT) when they head west to play Idaho State in the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls.

After starting the season 4-4, the Bengals are in the midst of a six-game skid that has brought them to 4-10 on the year and 0-2 in the Big Sky. In their first game of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge, they were defeated in overtime 95-82 by Denver.
Graduate student center Brayden Parker leads the ISU offense with a 60.6 FG% (80-for-132), ranking him 27th in the entire NCAA. He also has team highs with 198 points, 14.7 ppg, and 18 blocks, as well being second on the team in rebounds (73 total, 6.8 rpg).
Junior forward Kiree Huie is right behind Parker in scoring with 171 points and 12.2 ppg, along with a 55.2 FG % (74-for-134). His 95 total rebounds, 6.8 rpg, and 18 blocks pace the Bengals. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Maleek Arington is first on the team in assists (56) and steals (29) on top of scoring 140 points.
Head Coach Ryan Looney is in his fifth year at the helm of the Bengals and 20th overall as a collegiate head coach. Prior to ISU, he spent a combined 15 seasons at Eastern Oregon, Seattle Pacific, and Point Loma Nazarene, helping the latter to a Division II Championship runner-up finish.

- The Mavericks opened the first ever Big Sky-Summit Challenge with a decisive 81-55 win over Northern Arizona that brought them back to .500 on the year at 8-8. Omaha is also 6-1 now at home.
- Omaha had three separate double-digit scoring runs vs. NAU, scoring 20 in a row within the first five minutes, before having runs of 11 and 10 points in the second half. Facilitating this offensive production was a 54.3 FG%, the team's second highest this season, Meanwhile, four blocks and 39 rebounds helped limit the Lumberjacks to a 36.0 FG% on 18 FGM.
- Frankie Fidler stayed hot on Wednesday, turning in his third-straight 20-point performance with a team-high 22. He now has 81 points in his last three games, shooting 22-for-43 (51.2%) and going 30-for-33 (90.9%) on free throws in that span. His career points total reached 1124, tying him for 23rd all-time in program history.
- Nick Davis (13 points) and Tony Osburn (14 points) scored double digits too, with Davis turning in his third-consecutive multi-block performance with two and Osburn leading the team with three steals.
- JJ White cleared 100 points on the season on Wednesday as he shot 4-for-7 for eight points, bringing his season total to 103 and making him the sixth Maverick to reach the century mark this year.
- Grant Stubblefield, Marcel Bryant, Nick Davis, and Biko Johnson are Omaha's top newcomers coming into this season.
- Stubblefield was named 6A Player of the Year and First Team All-State while at Blue Valley Northwest and Bryant was named the Austin Area Player of the Year at Cedar Ridge. Johnson is coming off his second season at Western Nebraska CC where he was named All-Conference and All-Nebraska, while Davis is fresh off winning GAC Defensive Player of the Year and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the Division II NCAA Tournament with Southern Nazarene.
- Fidler was Omaha's lone All-Summit honoree last season, earning an Honorable Mention. He led Omaha in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), steals (1.2 spg), and free throw percentage (.887), with his FT% in particular ranking in the NCAA's top-25 for most of the season.
- Head Coach Chris Crutchfield has a 27-40 career record. It marks his third season as a head coach and second with the Mavericks.
