Omaha’s Guevin and Latkoczy win KJ Branding NCHC Players of the Week honors

OMAHA, Neb. – Maverick hockey juniors Jacob Guevin and Simon Latkoczy were named KJ Branding NCHC Defenseman of the Week and Goaltender of the Week by the conference, it was announced today.
Guevin played a pivotal role in Las Vegas over the weekend by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against then No. 5 Minnesota.
The Drummondville, Quebec native totaled one goal, two assists and three points, blocked two shots and was plus-1 in two games.
Latkoczy was named the Ice Breaker Tournament's Most Outstanding Player after starting both games against then-No. 14 UMass and No. 5 Minnesota.
The Trencin, Slovakia native recorded 77 saves, including 53 against Minnesota, which tied a program high. Holding two top 15 ranked teams to only three goals on 80 total shots on goal gave him a 1.44 goals against average and a .963 save percentage.
This is the third time that Latkoczy has been named the Goaltender of the Week and the second time that Guevin has been given the honor of NCHC Defenseman of the Week. Latkoczy also won an NCHC Rookie of the Week nomination as a freshman during the 2022-23 season.
On Monday, Omaha was ranked No. 12 in the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live College Hockey Poll.
