No. 20/19 Mavericks Down Bulldogs Under National Spotlight

The No. 20/19 Omaha Mavericks downed the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 5-1 under the national tv spotlight tonight.
Tonight's contest opened with Jack Randl sneaking a shorthanded goal home at the 5:36 mark of the first period. Sophomore blueliner Jo Lemay fired a shot all the way down the ice on net and with a heads-up play, Randl corralled the rebound and buried his team leading 10th goal of the season.
Kirby Proctor scored the eventual game winning goal with 6:50 left in the first period when he lasered home a shot from the left side point.
After a scoreless second period, Omaha opened the floodgates in the third period netting three more lamp lighters. 3:09 into the final frame, reigning Rookie of the Week, Tanner Ludkte buried a rebound goal to extend the Mavericks lead to 3-1.
Following Tanner's goal, Zach Urdahl scored his sixth goal of the season into an empty UMD net with 1:54 to play. Jimmy Glynn added the final dagger with 19 seconds left to put tonight's game on ice.
The Mavericks and Bulldogs will do it all again tomorrow night from Baxter Arena in the series finale. Puck drop moves back to the normal 7:07 time.
