Track and Field Returns to Brookings for SDSU Indoor Classic
Feb 8, 2024 | Track & Field
The Omaha Track and Field squad is back in action this weekend ready to compete in the two-day SDSU Indoor Classic meet.
This is the second time this season the Mavericks have competed at SDSU. Omaha produced solid results in their first trip to the indoor facility. The Mavericks put up 11 personal bests and Emily Treptow won the 1000m final.
Omaha is coming off a major performance at the Iowa State Classic last weekend. Four Mavericks recorded program record performances while 10 others produced personal best results over the one-day meet. In the 3000m, Ensley powered through the line for a 9:51.02 and the second fastest time in program history. Ensley and teammate Lauren Metzger battled back-and-forth in the 3000m. Metzger clocked 9:53.57 and landed as the 3rd fastest 3000m runner in school history.
Emma Klein put on a clinic in the triple jump. The Sophomore leaped to an indoor personal best of 38'7" which was just 1cm shy of her all-time farthest. That jump was good enough to win the event and move her into a tie for the 9th farthest jump in school history. In the 200m Tania Gleason ran to a personal best of 24.91 which ranks her seventh all-time in school history.
The Mavericks will look to build off of last week's success tomorrow when things get underway at 4:00 p.m.
