Mavericks Complete GCU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Mavericks concluded the second of two days at the GCU classic on Wednesday, finishing in 14th place out of 16 with a final score of 870 (+18).
Cal State Fullerton took first place in the three-round 54-hole event with a score of 828 (-24), while GCU's Tommaso Zorzetto took first place individually out of 96 golfers after shooting 198 (-15). Omaha finished four strokes behind 13th-place Columbia and four ahead of 15th-place St. Thomas.
Connor Wilson was again the top performer for the Mavericks, finishing the event tied for 36th with a score of 217 (+4). He led off the event with the second best single-round score for any Maverick with a 70, followed by a 71 and a 74 in rounds two and three.Â
Christopher Atkinson was two strokes behind Wilson and finished tied for 49th. He had the best final round on the team after shooting a 71. Two strikes behind him was Nolan Johnson who finished six over at 219 and ended up tied for 59th. Behind him at +8 was Porter Topp in 71st place. Topp's day two score of 68 was the best by a Maverick and was one of the top 20 best single-round scores in the entire Invitational. Rounding out the group was Josh Peters, who finished in 91st with a score of 230 (+17).
